Founder, People On Board

Pierre-Olivier Botteron, founder of People On Board Llc., HR transformation and culture consultant based in Switzerland

Pierre-Olivier Botteron is the founder of People On Board GmbH, a consulting firm specialising in company culture, HR transformation and leadership development. With over 25 years of international HR leadership experience, he supports leaders and organisations in Switzerland and internationally who want to align their culture, practices and teams with their strategic ambitions.

His professional career has been built in contexts of significant complexity. For over a decade, he held the position of VP Human Resources at Swissôtel and FRHI Hotels & Resorts, with responsibility for more than 30 properties, 8,000 employees and 15 countries. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, he led large-scale HR transformations in demanding multicultural environments, process digitalisation, leadership development, and management of major organisational changes.

Before joining global luxury hospitality, Pierre-Olivier Botteron began his international career as a field administrator with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), progressing to Head of Administration in one of the organisation's largest delegations, across three missions in Côte d'Ivoire, Afghanistan and Rwanda. This experience durably shaped his understanding of human dynamics in organisations under pressure, and his conviction that culture is always in the end, a matter of people.

He holds an MSc in Change Leadership, a joint programme from HEC Paris and the University of Oxford (Saïd Business School), a BSc from the École Hôtelière de Lausanne, and a Healthcare Leadership Certificate from Stanford University. He works primarily in French, English and German.

Our convictions

01 Culture is not an HR topic

Company culture is too often delegated to human resources. That is a mistake. It is a matter for the executive team, because it determines whether strategy translates into real behaviours or remains on paper.

02 You cannot build a culture without the people who make it real

Transformation programmes that fail almost always share the same flaw: they were designed for teams, not with them. A co-built culture is a culture that holds over time.

03 Culture is not the last project, it is the first

Culture is almost always addressed after structures, after processes, after tools. That is precisely the sequence that explains why so many transformations run out of steam before delivering results.
